2018 Writing Resolutions: June

This post isn’t just about our progress in June. We’re halfway through the year now, which makes this a good time to step back and evaluate how we’ve done thus far in 2018. Have you achieved the goals you set for yourself over the past few months? Or, for various reasons, have you fallen short?

Camp NaNoWriMo! (April 2018)

Have you guys ever heard of Camp NaNoWriMo? It’s a more casual, relaxed version of NaNoWriMo that takes place every April and July.

How does it work?
It’s really simple! All you do is sign up on the Camp NaNoWriMo website, then add your project. Unlike NaNoWriMo where you’re required to write at least 50,000 words in order to win, Camp NaNoWriMo allows you to set your own goal. You can choose word count, hours, minutes, pages, or lines.

Camp NaNoWriMo is a great alternative for those who find regular NaNoWriMo a little too demanding. It’s also ideal for all sorts of goals related to the writing process. For example, I still have a ton of editing work left over from NaNoWriMo 2017 – I’m committing to 60 hours during Camp NaNoWriMo for editing work, which should allow me to make a significant amount of progress.

How about you? Would you like to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo this April? I know it’s a busy time of year for lots of folks, but you have the freedom to set a small, manageable goal for yourself. You can even revise as you go, decreasing or increasing your initial goal depending on your progress.

Camp NaNoWriMo should be lots of fun, and of course, we have a forum thread for updates and support. We’ll also have writing/editing sessions in our Discord chat throughout the month, so please feel free to join us!

Best of luck to those of you who are participating. Those who aren’t? Well, there’s always July. 🙂
